⭐ Fundraising goal: £2,000
13-year-old Megan Burton has been selected for British Youth Music Theatre. She'll be performing in the world premiere of Paper Stars in Exeter this August — and she needs your help to get there.
My name is Megan Burton and I'm 13 years old, from Tollard Royal, Wiltshire. Performing has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember — I've been training since I was about 18 months old, and my family always says I could sing before I could talk.
I'm still working hard to develop my skills and I currently train around 6 hours a week. I love musical theatre and being on stage is where I feel most alive.
Being selected for BYMT is a huge honour, and I'm determined to make the most of this opportunity. But I need a bit of help to get there.
At a glance
Megan has been offered a place to perform in Paper Stars — a brand-new musical theatre show by Grace Chapple (Co-Writer), Luke Byrne (Composer & Lyricist) and Miranda Middleton (Co-Writer).
The show will be performed at the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter from 14–16 August 2026. It's a world premiere — and Megan will be part of it.

"I'll be training and performing with young people from across the UK, learning from industry professionals, and taking part in a full production. This is an incredible opportunity and I'm working hard to make it happen."
— Megan Burton
British Youth Music Theatre (BYMT) is a national youth music theatre company that creates opportunities for young people from all backgrounds to develop theatre skills and enhance wellbeing.
Through the collaborative and inclusive process of making original music theatre, BYMT brings together talented young performers and musicians from across the UK to train with industry professionals and create full-scale productions.
Being selected for BYMT is highly competitive. Participants audition nationally and, if chosen, work intensively to rehearse and perform brand-new shows — many of which are world premieres.
